Alan Fernandez, Chief Instructor
Alan is Chief Instructor at Journeys Aviation™
and is responsible for insuring our high quality
of training. Originally from Southern California,
Alan Fernandez has been flying since age 15. After
receiving his pilot's license in 2000, Alan attended
and graduated from Flight Safety Academy in Vero
Beach, Florida. Alan holds a CFI, CFII, MEI,
and a CE-500 type rating. He specializes in primary,
instrument, and multi-engine training. Alan has several thousand hours of flying experience as a career instructor;

Scott Rinkenberger
Scott is our manager at the Broomfield location. Scott has a lifelong passion for flying. He completed his private pilot training at Journeys Aviation in September of 2007 after moving back to Colorado from Canada. A former police officer, paramedic and horse trainer, he is a graduate of the University of Phoenix with a Bachelors degree in Business Management. Scott also completed his helicopter rating. He will tell you that becoming a pilot has been one of the most rewarding events in his life! In addition to flying, Scott enjoys camping, horseback riding and bicycling.

Tracey Spence
Tracey is the FBO Manager for the Journeys Aviation Boulder at Boulder Municipal Airport. He is an FAA Gold Seal instructor with over 14 years of flying experience, and was awarded Journeys Aviation
2007 "Flight Instructor of the Year Award." Prior to making a career change in 2004, Tracey performed project planning and management for completion of environmental projects at private and government operated industrial facilities. Tracey holds a B. S. degree in Geology from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology.

Carolyn Sutherland, Owner
Carolyn
is an attorney licensed to practice law in Massachusetts,
Georgia and the District of Columbia. After practicing
commercial litigation at Peabody & Brown (now Peabody
& Nix) in Boston, Carolyn served as legal counsel
to the Federal Aviation Administration in the New England
Region where she concentrated on enforcement, environmental,
contract and labor issues. Later, she joined the International
Affairs & Legal Policy Division of the Chief Counsel's
Office at FAA's Headquarters in Washington, D.C. where
she provided legal support on airport security and emergency
management issues, international and ICAO agreements,
and matters involving the administration of the
Aviation Insurance Program. Carolyn has three children.

Cody Sutherland, Owner
Cody Sutherland founded
Journeys Aviation in 2002
and opened for business
March 1, 2003. He began
flying in the 1970s and earned
his private pilot certificate at
the University of Oklahoma's
Part 141 school in 1979. He holds a commercial multi-engine certificate and his instrument rating. Cody
also owns and runs a manufacturing
business in Denver. His
career has spanned oil and
gas exploration, high technology
mergers and acquisitions,
and telecommunications.
He holds a BS in Mechanical
Engineering from Oklahoma
University and an MBA from
Harvard University. He
and his wife and co-owner,
Carolyn, live with their
family in Boulder County.

John Pritchard, Owner
John Pritchard joined Journeys Aviation as a co-owner in 2008 to continue to pursue his
passion for aviation. He began his career as an Air Force Officer
and later progressed through the management ranks of IBM. He
then founded and built a successful software systems integration
company whose core business was helping the FAA modernize
its Air Traffic Management systems and develop the next generation
systems.
John holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Iowa State University
and an M.C.I.S. – Software Engineering from the University of Denver.
He and his wife, Syndi, and their two children, Ryan and Jennifer, live
in Lafayette.
